At Stone & belter we work with every advisor very thoroughly and we require the highest quality. An advisor who is not equipped with complex abilities, cannot succeed on the consulting field in the long term. The whole system of our company is governed by this.
The selection of personnel is extremely important and that is why we have linked up with staffing agencies, which provide us with long-term good quality human resources.
Why did your company decide not to just hire advisors by a bucket?
Mr. SB: "Yes, we used this term. Why don't we then hire by a bucket and instead keep sifting through the applicants with a fine sieve, until the best ones remain? Believe me, that it is not an expression of pride. It showed to be the only functioning way to create a quality team consisting of people who know what it means to work, to have the right work attitude. How to put together people with vision."
What can you offer in turn?
Mr. SB: "Mainly an unlimited possibility for growth, both in the aspect of education and of the rewards. Each day at our company can be different. We state that a Stone&belter advisor is a thoroughly equipped individual, who knows what he/she wants and is able to do something about it."
What about previous experience?
Mr. SB: "If you are interested in working at our company, you do not have to have previous experience in consulting. We even take this spotlessness as a sort of advantage. People coming from schools have not yet acquired habits which would hinder them. Which of course does not mean that we will not welcome with open arms an experienced advisor, who has reached the top of his/her personal growth at their previous post. But we are able to train people from the scratch."
How does this sifting of the candidates look like?
Mr. SB: "The applicants go through a three-stage selection process. First, they talk to the personnel agent. Then with our manager who is going to be their closest co-worker. And finally, there is a three-person meeting of the director of Stone&belter, the manager and the applicant. This is certainly demanding for all, but it is necessary. In the future, it will save us time which we can devote to work or to ourselves and not to complaining about the work of our colleagues."
Can one tell when the advisor is "ready"?
Mr. SB: "Only very approximately. We estimate that this process takes about one through one and a half year. The Stone&belter company has a well defined profile and an ethical codex, a company culture, to which it takes time to adapt, and it takes time for someone to soak these values in and make them their own. But the educating process never ends. Those who would rather rest, are left behind. And we do not want to be left behind."
